Phydeaux: March 1985 - October 22nd, 1998

Rest in Peace... Phydeaux, Beloved Dog and Companion. March 1985 - October 22nd, 1998

Midi Control Panel

Phydeaux was a 13 year old mixed breed dog - part border collie and part unknown. He was extremely sweet and intelligent. Towards the end he had serious health problems and was a special needs dog. Phydeaux was truely loyal and wonderful. He was always there when you needed a friend. He'd sit quietly by our side and thump his tail and give us doggie kisses. He was affectionate, playful and obedient. Even in the end when it was such a struggle to stand or walk, when every breath was a serious labor and life was lived from one diaper change to the next, he never growled, snapped or sulked. He was a real trooper, always putting us first. We will always remember him fondly. Special thanks to Dr. Bob McCool and all the staff at Suburban Animal Clinic (11763 Benham Rd, St. Louis, MO. 63136-6113, Phone: 314-741-1414) who treated him so well. One couldn't ask for kinder or more thorough veterinarians. If your pet has a chronic disability or illness and you live in St. Louis Missouri, I highly recommend this vet. He is the best.

"Heaven's Doggy-Door"
by Jan Cooper, 1995

My best friend closed his eyes last night,
as his head was in my hand.
The Doctors said he was in pain,
and it was hard for him to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through my head
as I cradled him in my arms.
Were of his younger puppy years,
and Oh...his many charms.
Today there was no gentle nudge,
with an intense "I love you gaze,"
Only a heart that's filled with tears,
remembering our joy filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me and he said,
"You should cry no more,
God also loves our canine friends,
He's installed a "doggy-door"!

"The Last Battle"
by Unknown

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done?
For this-- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand.
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so,
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me until the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree,
It is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you,
Who has to decide this thing to do.
We've been so close for all these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
